General
- The rules apply everywhere VELA lives: in the game, in voice chat, on the site and the wiki, in the project's Telegram and Discord.
- Acceptance of the rules and terms is recorded through a separate action. The rules alone do not constitute acceptance of a paid order.
- Disputed cases are decided by the spirit of the rules: don't spoil the game for others and don't break it. Not sure if something is allowed? Ask support before doing it.
- Not knowing the rules does not excuse breaking them.
- The rules may change. We announce important changes in advance in the news (site, launcher, Telegram), except urgent measures against abuse.
Fair play
How power works in VELA. These are the principles we build the economy on: not fine print but something you can check in the game and in the wiki.
- The in-game version comes first. A Vela Coin version of an item appears only after the same tier is already obtainable in the game. Pre-enchanted gear is not sold: Upgrade and enchanting are done on the item itself.
- The gap is capped. The modelled gear-power gap between the most generous patron and a free player stays at about 20% or less on any day, and Vela Coin purchases account for only a few percent of that. A free player gets the same set, just later.
- Power is earned in the game. Everything that gives power - gear grades, Upgrade, runes, tattoos, epic jewelry - can be obtained by hunting, crafting and raids. Entry to strong zones depends on rebirths and your set, not your wallet.
- Coins of Vela can be earned. Players sell them on World Trade for adena earned in game.
- Prices and caps are open. Weekly purchase caps and operation prices are shown in the game windows before payment, and confirmation is a separate step.
What is allowed
- Built-in auto hunting and everything the game itself offers: auto hunting, offline hunting with premium; the hero remote on the site and Telegram bot notifications.
- Trading inside the game with transferable items and currencies through the methods available for each. Players can sell Coins of Vela only on World Trade for adena; direct trades, private stores and mail are unavailable for this currency.
- Free PvP with karma, fights for hunting spots, the Arena and the Guild Battle; sieges and PvP events. A PvP kill is not a violation by itself.
- Buffer and trader alts, client macros, video recording and streaming.
- Playing with friends from one flat, dorm or club: the window limit counts computers (see "Windows and alts").
Bots and third-party software
Forbidden:
- external bots and clickers (L2Walker, Adrenaline, L2Tower and the like), auto-clickers, scripts that play the character for you;
- software that modifies the client, intercepts or alters network traffic, speeds up the game or reveals hidden things ("radars", "wallhacks");
- modified client files that give an advantage. Any change to client files other than those installed by the launcher is forbidden. A cosmetic mod without an advantage may be used only after the administration agrees (write to support); otherwise the anticheat counts it as a violation;
- attacks on the server, the site and players: DDoS, password guessing, phishing, malware.
Game bugs
- Found a bug? Report it: in the game with
.bug text(the place, the target and the chat around are saved automatically) or to support: what you did, where, when, a screenshot or video. Don't share the method until it is fixed. - Using bugs for gain is forbidden: duplicating items or currencies, walking through walls or into closed areas, unkillable positions, wrong prices, rewards or enchant results.
- If a bug benefited you by accident and you reported it right away, there is no penalty.
- Important bug reports may be rewarded with game values at the administration's discretion; the amount is not promised in advance.
- Used a bug and kept quiet: the gains are removed (including from those they were passed or sold to) and the penalty table applies.
Real money and accounts
- You can buy Coins of Vela from another player for adena on World Trade. This makes them obtainable with currency earned in game. Coins of Vela cannot be sent through direct trades, private stores or mail.
- Real-money deals between players (selling adena, items, characters, accounts) are at your own risk. The administration takes no part in them, guarantees nothing, does not return money, items or accounts after a scam and does not settle such disputes.
- Forbidden: advertising real-money sales in game chats; scams (cheating in trades, "I'll pay later", item swaps); selling ill-gotten goods (bots, bugs) — they are removed.
- An account is personal. If you give away your login and password, you are responsible for everything done with the account. Access is restored only via the confirmed e-mail or linked Telegram.
- The administration and GMs never ask for your password and never sell game values for money outside the Vela Shop.
Windows and alts
- 2 windows per computer earn full rewards. The third and further windows play with reduced rewards: XP and SP ×0.3, loot and adena −70%, no auto-hunt assist. Offline traders don't count, offline hunting does. At most 3 windows per computer: this cap starts a week after the opening, the date will be in the news.
- The limit counts computers or, when the client doesn't report one, IP addresses. Many players behind one address (a club, a dorm)? Write to support.
- Bypassing the limit is forbidden: virtual machines, spoofed hardware IDs, proxies and VPNs for extra windows.
Communication
- No insults, harassment, threats or discrimination (ethnicity, religion, gender and so on). PvP banter is fine as long as it doesn't get personal.
- No spam or flood, no ads for other servers and projects, no links to dubious sites. The trade chat is for trading.
- No politics or illegal content in public chats, no pornography or calls for violence.
- Don't pretend to be staff and don't publish other people's personal data.
- Voice chat follows the same rules; no music or noise in public channels.
- The world of VELA has AI-driven characters (Echoes, talking NPCs and others). A program writes their replies and may be wrong; report an inappropriate AI reply to support.
Names
- Character names, clan names and titles must not be offensive, obscene, political or advertising.
- Don't imitate staff (GM, Admin, Support, Vela and the like) or other players to deceive.
- The administration renames an unfit name; until then the character or clan may be blocked. Such a rename is free, but a repeat offence is penalised.
Penalties
A person penalises, not a program: the anticheat, filters and reports only collect evidence and show it to GMs. A decision considers severity, evidence and repetition; the player is told the reason and duration. Durations in the table are indicative: serious violations (bots, dupes, hacking) may lead straight to a ban, minor ones begin with a warning.
Steps
- Warning - an on-screen and chat message from the administration, logged.
- Chat ban - for hours or days; you can play but not write in chat.
- Jail - for minutes or hours, released by the timer; used instead of a short ban.
- Account ban for a term - for days; no character of the account can log in.
- Permanent ban.
| Violation | First time | Second time | Further |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spam, flood, rudeness in chat | warning or chat ban 1–24 h | chat ban up to 7 days | ban 1–7 days |
| Advertising other servers and projects, dubious sites, real-money sales | chat ban 1–7 days | ban 7–30 days | permanent |
| Insults, harassment, threats, discrimination | chat ban 1–7 days | ban 3–30 days | permanent |
| Unfit character, clan or title name | forced rename | character blocked until renamed | ban 7 days |
| Bypassing the window limit (virtual machines, spoofed hardware, VPN) | warning, extra windows closed | jail or ban 3 days | ban 30 days |
| Scamming players | return of the loot (if possible) and ban 7 days | ban 30 days | permanent |
| Bots, third-party software, modified client | ban 7–30 days and removal of gains | permanent | - |
| Exploiting bugs (dupes etc.) without reporting | removal and a ban from 7 days to permanent, by scale | permanent | - |
| Attacks on the server, hacking, account theft | permanent, all accounts of the offender | - | - |
How we learn about a violation
- Player reports: "Report" in the menu or
.report name reason. The server attaches the chat lines around the incident. - Bug reports:
.bug text. - The anticheat and the watch for suspicious behaviour (packet and click tempo, client programs and files, the launcher) collect signals for GMs. The server never bans automatically: at a high score it shows a captcha check (fail it and you are logged out of the game), and only a person imposes a ban. During the OBT and for a week after the opening the anticheat only logs; after that, logging in without the launcher or a detected forbidden program logs you out of the game (this is not a ban).
- Chat logs are kept up to 30 days (private messages 7 days); penalty records longer, while needed for appeals.
- A ban may cover all accounts of the offender.
- Ill-gotten gains are removed, including from those they were passed to.
- A ban does not remove mandatory rights relating to paid services. Monetary claims are reviewed separately under the refund terms and law.
Appeals
- Disagree with a penalty? Contact support promptly while evidence is available. The internal procedure does not limit statutory remedies or deadlines.
- Give your login, character, date, what you were penalised for and why you disagree. Screenshots and videos help.
- Internal review period: we aim to reply within a day and give the final decision within 7 days, subject to applicable legal deadlines. A different moderator reviews the appeal where possible.
- An incorrect penalty is lifted and restoration of game values is checked against records. An internal decision does not remove the right to contact a regulator or court.
Staff
- GMs keep order and help with problems; they don't hand out items, help in PvP or trade.
- A GM will never ask for your password or Telegram code.
- Complaints about a GM go to the server owner through support.
